Wan Smolbag Theatre (WSB) is a non-government organisation based in Vanuatu but operating throughout the South Pacific, in the areas of education, environment, governance, and health. Staff and volunteers work to create awareness of challenging issues and promote community action, and provide training and materials to schools, communities, NGOs and government departments. Beginning primarily as a development theatre group, WSB has expanded to include a reproductive health clinic, a youth centre, a conservation network and a sports and nutrition centre. WSB is core funded by Australian Aid and the New Zealand Aid programme and produces materials such as the popular Love Patrol television show, other films, booklets and posters for education and training.
WSB has over 140 full-time and part-time staff: including full time actors, director, scriptwriter, finance and administrative staff, graphic artists, nurses, peer educators, youth workers and film and radio technicians. Based in Port Vila, it also runs a youth centre on Pentecost, a reproductive health clinic and a youth centre on Santo. WSB also has a network of over 400 volunteer turtle conservation monitors based on islands throughout Vanuatu. www.wansmolbag.org
